《傲气雄鹰 周年版（Sky Force Anniversary）》虽是一款传统的清版飞行射击游戏，但由于开发商为其加入了升级、收集和难度选择等元素，令其耐玩度大幅提升。
本作共有9大关卡，每个关卡设有3种难度，一开始玩家只能攻简单难度，当过关并达成该难度所有条件后，如：无伤通关，敌全灭，救出关卡里的所有人质等要求后，才能开启下一个难度。越往后的关卡，难度越高，挑战性会不断增大。
在关卡中击落敌人后所拿到的星星，有两个用途，可用于飞机的9项能力升级，如装甲，主炮威力和磁石吸力等；另外在每关出击前可以购买3种辅助装备，分别是防护罩、激光和大保险，他们在高难度的关卡中作用非常明显。
